Shayla, the founder of Mes Amis Toys, discovered her passion for crocheting in early 2024 when she made a special set of turtles for her best friends as a Valentine’s Day gift. What started as a simple act of love soon blossomed into a deep passion for crafting toys and statues.

After completing her Bachelor of Science, Shayla worked in healthcare technology. However, a layoff in 2024 provided her with the opportunity to focus entirely on building Mes Amis Toys. With this newfound freedom, Shayla channeled her energy into expanding her TikTok presence, where her crochet statues, including her popular Kaws figure and Super Mario Piranha Plant, went viral. Her love for interior design and DIY projects seamlessly blended with her crochet skills, leading to these eye-catching and imaginative creations.

The name Mes Amis Toys, translates to "My Friends" in French—a nod to our Canadian roots and bilingual upbringing. "Amigurumi," the crochet style we use, perfectly encapsulates our philosophy. Each creation is not just a toy or a statue; it is a member of our circle of friends, crafted with hours of dedication, love, and careful handling.
